ABOUT THE AREA
One of the claims to fame that is regularly made on behalf of Wombourne is that
it is -
Although much smaller than Wombourne itself, Seisdon was traditionally the administrative centre for the area and for many years had its own magistrates courts.
Trysull has a long and illustrious history -
Bobbington is perhaps best known for its airport and its vineyards, some of the most northerly in the country. RAF Bobbington became known as RAF Halfpenny Green as it is alleged that American pilots were forever getting it mixed up with RAF Bovington in the south of England. Today the airport remains controversial with plans occasionally being put forward to expand it into an international gateway into the West Midlands (despite the fact that the only land transport links in the immediate vicinity are B and C class roads).
Swindon grew up primarily as a result of the ironworks that for many years dominated the village but, like so much of the local industry disappeared as new techniques and processes became available.
